Fingerprint readers are great! Why carry a key when you have one right at your fingertips? Unfortunately, they're often unreliable or difficult to implement. Not anymore! This fantastic GT-521F52 fingerprint module from ADH-Tech communicates via TTL serial port so you can easily integrate it into your next project. The module handles all the heavy lifting of reading and identifying fingerprints with an integrated optical sensor and a 32-bit ARM Cortex M3 processor.

To begin, simply register each fingerprint you want to store by sending the corresponding command and pressing your finger against the reader three times. The fingerprint reader can store different fingerprints, and the fingerprint database can even be downloaded from the unit and distributed to other modules. In addition to the fingerprint "template" (the parsed version), you can retrieve a fingerprint image and even extract raw images from the optical sensor.

This module is an upgraded version of the GT-521F32 and can store up to 3,000 different fingerprints. It is capable of 360° fingerprint recognition and template download/upload via the serial interface. Furthermore, the GT-521Fxx series offers a resolution of 450 dpi, with a false acceptance rate of <0.001% and a false rejection rate of <0.1%, and requires only <1.5 seconds to identify a unique fingerprint.

The module is small and easy to mount thanks to the four holes surrounding the sensor. The integrated JST-SH connector has four signals: Vcc, GND, Tx, and Rx. You'll find a compatible JST-SH pigtail in the Connection Accessories section below.

Note: Please note that although this fingerprint scanner is equipped with the same connector we use on all of our Qwiic boards, it does NOT support Qwiic or I2C. That being said, all of our Qwiic cables, such as the 100mm version, are compatible with this board.
