Description:

The SN54L/74LS166 is an 8-bit shift register. Designed with all 'buffered' inputs. By utilizing input diodes, switching transients are minimized, allowing for a simplified system design. The LS166 is a parallel or serial input and serial output shift register, with a complexity of 77 equivalent gates and gated clock inputs. The shift/load input sets the parallel or serial mode. When this input is high, it allows serial data input and pairs the eight flip-flops for a shift with each clock pulse. A synchronous load occurs on the next clock pulse when it is low and parallel data inputs are enabled. Serial data flow is inhibited during parallel loading.
