Description:
This tiny camera module can be a great addition to your project. It's just like the other JPEG cameras (same chip/software), but much smaller and thinner. It was designed for use in security systems and does two main things: it outputs color NTSC video and can take snapshots of that video (in color) and transmit them over the TTL serial link. You can take photos in 640x480, 320x240, or 160x120, and the images are pre-compressed in JPEG format, easy to store on an SD card. Perfect for data logging, security, or project photography.
One nice thing about this particular camera is all the "extras" it comes with. For example, auto-white balance, auto-brightness and contrast, and built-in motion detection! This means you can have an alert appear on your project if something moves in the frame. The lens can be manually adjusted and has a default focal length of 15.1 meters, which is good for most projects.
The module is very easy to use and only requires two digital pins (or a TTL serial port). It transmits at 38400 baud by default. Of course, we won't just leave you with a datasheet and a "good luck" message. Adafruit He spends a lot of time researching the module to make a very good Arduino library with example code showing how to change image size and compression quality, motion detection, control the video output stream, etc. He also has a very detailed tutorial that will help you get the most out of your camera.
