Description:
This new version improves with the GPX and RESET pins. The SparkFun USB Host Shield contains all the necessary digital logic and analog circuitry to implement a high-speed USB host controller for peripherals with the Arduino. This means you could use your Arduino to interact with and control any USB slave device, thumbdrives, digital cameras, Bluetooth dongles, and much more!
A four-wire serial interface is used to communicate with the host controller chip, so the shield connects to the Arduino hardware via the SPI pins (D10-13) to the MAX3421E. A female USB type A connector is connected to the IC, and it also supplies 5V just like any normal USB port would.
The Host Shield takes power from the 'Vin' pin on your Arduino. The regulated 5V and 3.3V power on the shield. All SPI signals are sent through a hex converter to lower it to 3.3V.
