Description:
The MAX30100 is an integrated pulse oximetry sensor and heart rate monitor solution. It combines two LEDs, a photodetector, optimized optics, and low-noise analog signal processing to detect pulse oximetry and heart rate signals. The MAX30100 operates on 1.8V and 3.3V power supplies and can be shut down via software with negligible standby current, allowing the power supply to remain connected at all times.
Pulse oximetry is a noninvasive method that measures the oxygen saturation percentage of hemoglobin (SaO2) in a patient's blood using a photoelectric circuit. This is achieved by using a pulse oximeter, a device that integrates light emitters and a sensor that measures the amount of light reflected by the patient's finger. The light detected by the sensor varies according to the oxygen concentration in the blood; oxygenated blood absorbs more infrared light, while deoxygenated blood absorbs more red light.
The MAX30100 is a device that integrates a pulse oximeter and a heart rate monitor. It features two LEDs: a red LED (660 nm) and an infrared LED (920 nm), a photodetector, specialized optics, an ambient light filter between 50 and 60 Hz, and a 16-bit delta-sigma ADC with up to 1000 samples per second. It also features an internal temperature sensor to compensate for the effects of temperature on the measurement.
The MAX30100 requires two voltages to operate: 1.8V and 3.3V, so this module includes both voltage regulators on the board, requiring only a 5V power supply. Its low current consumption makes it ideal for portable applications. It can be used in medical monitoring equipment, fitness aids, and wearables in general.
