Description:
The LM3914N is a monolithic integrated circuit that senses analog voltage levels and controls 10 LEDs. A single pin changes the display configuration from dot display to bar display. The current controlling the LEDs is regulated and programmable, eliminating the need for resistors. This feature is what allows the entire system to operate with less than 3V.
This circuit contains its own adjustable reference and a very precise 10-step voltage divider. The low ground current bias at the input buffer input accepts signals connected directly to ground, or negative and oscillating voltages, and does not require protection against positive or negative 35V inputs. The buffer controls 10 individual comparators referenced with the precision of the divider.
Features:
- Drives LEDs, LCDs, vacuum fluorescents
- User-externally selectable mode for dot display or bar display.
- Expandable to 100-step displays
- Internal voltage reference from 1.2V to 12V
- Operates with a minimum single source of 3V
- Operates with grounded inputs
- Programmable output current from 2mA to 30mA
