Description:

This is the SparkFun Photon IMU Shield, a versatile motion-sensing add-on board for your Photon device. Each IMU Shield is equipped with an integrated LSM9DS1 system-on-chip that houses a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. That's right, 9 degrees of freedom (9DOF) on a single IC!

Each sensor on the LSM9DS1 supports a wide variety of ranges: the accelerometer scale can be set to ±2, 4, 6, 8, or 16 g, the gyroscope supports ±245, 500, and 2000°/s, and the magnetometer has full ±2, 4, 8, or 12 gauss ranges. The SparkFun Photon IMU Shield comes with the connectors already soldered on, so it’s ready to use!

Particle Photon is a small WiFi development kit for creating connected projects and products. Featuring a 120 MHz ARM Cortex M3 processor and integrated WiFi, Photon is not only powerful but also easy to use. Its small form factor is ideal for IoT projects with cloud connectivity.

Note: This shield not only works with Photon, but can also be used with Particle Core. We know that many of you haven't been able to get your hands on a Photon yet and would like to start experimenting with this shield. If that's you, we hope we've been helpful!
