Description:

The SparkFun Pi Servo HAT makes it easy to control up to 16 servo motors with your Raspberry Pi, simply and hassle-free, using an I2C connection. Thanks to its I2C capability, this PWM HAT frees up the Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins, allowing you to use them for other functions. Additionally, the Pi Servo HAT adds a serial terminal connection, enabling you to power on the Raspberry Pi without needing to connect it to a monitor and keyboard.

Power for the SparkFun Pi Servo HAT is supplied via a microUSB connector, which can be used to power only the servos or to power both the servos and the Raspberry Pi connected to the HAT. This USB connector also allows you to connect to the Raspberry Pi via serial port, thus eliminating the need for a monitor and keyboard for setup. To power only the servo power line (and not the Raspberry Pi's 5V power line), simply remove a small blob of solder from the isolation jumper. This allows for controlling heavier loads from multiple or larger servo motors.

Each of the 16 servo connectors on this HAT is properly spaced to facilitate servo connection. The pins are arranged in the correct order for most hobby servo connectors. The Pi Servo HAT has the same size and form factor as a Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero W, but it can also work with a standard Raspberry Pi.

Note: This HAT does not include connectors for the Raspberry Pi; these must be purchased separately. We recommend tall 2x20 pin headers.
