Description:

These days, manufacturing a PCB doesn't require tons of expensive exposure equipment and bubble tanks; it can be done simply on your kitchen floor or in a garage and on a tight budget. There are already many instructions on how to create PCBs using toner and glossy photo paper or magazine pages, etc. But what if you want something reliable, that peels off directly without soaking?

Press 'n' Peel is a brand of toner transfer system distributed by Tekniks. I'm not sure if they developed the technology, but it appears to be a Mylar film with a blue powdered emulsion coating. This coating is very weakly adhered to the plastic film.

The way it works is you print on the blue side with a laser printer, then flip it over and iron it onto the copper. The toner re-melts and adheres to the copper (just like glossy paper), but because the blue coating has low adhesion to the film, it peels away when you strip it, leaving the residue only where the toner was.

It's an excellent way to produce PCBs in an instant; you can prepare perfect batch PCBs in 30-40 minutes. It's also detailed enough for SMD soldering, and with good double-sided alignment, it's possible. However, it's not foolproof; toner adhesion is still an issue, which is why we recommend this guide for perfect results every time.
