Description:

- ABS is made from petroleum-based resources and has a much higher melting point than PLA plastic. It is also stronger and tougher. It is an economical plastic notable for its low degree of shrinkage and warping. Due to these particular characteristics, ABS is widely used for purposes ranging from car bumpers and motorcycle helmets to musical instruments, golf clubs, and brand-name building blocks.

- PLA is a common type of biodegradable filament often derived from recycled materials. PLA is available in hard or soft grades and can be extruded at a low nozzle temperature. PLA allows for higher print speed, more accurate material placement with proper cooling (it does not shrink as much), and also thinner build heights due to less resistance of the plastic coming out of the nozzle, whereas ABS melts at high temperatures (252°C) yet remains sticky and has high viscosity. PLA has an obvious characteristic in that it is translucent.
