Description:

The DHT21 is a digital temperature and relative humidity sensor with good accuracy in a robust package. It integrates a capacitive humidity sensor, a thermistor, and a microcontroller responsible for analog-to-digital conversion. Its plastic package is more robust compared to the DHT11 and DHT22 sensors, which makes the DHT21 an ideal sensor for outdoor applications. Used in applications such as automatic temperature control, air conditioning, environmental monitoring in agriculture, and more.

Its integration is simple at both software and hardware levels. At the software level, there are Arduino libraries available with support for the "Single bus" protocol. As for the hardware, it is only necessary to connect the Red wire to the 3-5V power supply, the Black wire to Ground (0V), and the Yellow wire to a digital pin on our Arduino. If multiple sensors are to be connected to the same Arduino, each sensor must have its own data pin. Perhaps the only disadvantage of this sensor is that new data can only be obtained every 2 seconds.

The DHT21 has better performance than the DHT11 sensor, such as better resolution, higher accuracy, and a more robust package.
