It's blue! It's thin! It's the Arduino Pro Mini! Sparkfun's minimalist design approach to Arduino. This is a 5V Arduino running the 16MHz bootloader. Arduino Pro Mini does not come with connectors so you can solder any connector or wire in any orientation you need. We recommend new Arduino users start with the Uno R3. It's a great tip that will help you get started quickly. The Arduino Pro series is for users who understand the system voltage limitations (5V), the lack of connectors, and off-board USB.

We really wanted to minimize the cost of an Arduino. In order to achieve this, we used all SMD components, two layers, etc. This board connects directly to the FTDI Breakout motherboard and supports automatic reset. The Arduino Pro Mini also works with the FTDI cable but the FTDI cable does not have the DTR pin so the auto-reset function will not work. There is a voltage regulator so it can accept voltage up to 12V DC. If you are supplying unregulated power to the board, be sure to connect to the "RAW" pin and not VCC.

The latest and greatest version of this board eliminates the ADC6 and ADC7 pins, as well as adds optional I2C pull-up resistor traces. Also adorned with the OSHW logo (Open Source Hardware).
