Description:

Heart rate data can be really useful if you're designing an exercise routine, studying your activity or anxiety levels, or just want your shirt to flash with your heartbeat. The problem is that heart rate can be difficult to measure. Luckily, the Amped Pulse Sensor can solve that problem!

The Amped Pulse Sensor is a plug-and-play heart rate sensor for Arduino. It can be used by students, artists, athletes, makers, and game and mobile developers who want to easily incorporate live heart rate data into their projects. It essentially combines a simple optical heart rate sensor with amplification and noise cancellation circuitry, making it quick and easy to obtain reliable pulse readings. It also draws power with only 4 mA of current at 5 V, making it ideal for mobile applications.

Simply hold the pulse sensor with your earlobe or fingertip and connect it to the Arduino's 3 or 5 volt supply, and you're ready to read your heart rate! The 24AWG wire on the pulse sensor is terminated with standard male connectors, so there's no soldering required. Of course, Arduino example code is available, as well as a Processing sketch for displaying heart rate data.
