Description:

Rain sensors are used to detect water beyond what a humidity sensor can detect.

How it works:

The rain sensor detects water, which completes the circuits on the printed traces of its sensor boards. The sensor board acts as a variable resistor that will change from 100kohm when wet to 2Mohm when dry. In short, the wetter the board, the greater the current it will conduct.
