SparkFun XBee Shield - (AD16181)

Description:

XBee modules are a great way to add wireless connectivity to your Arduino projects, and now it's even easier with the SparkFun XBee Shield. This shield mates directly with any standard Arduino-footprint development board and provides it with wireless communication capabilities using the popular XBee module. This unit works with all XBee modules including Series 1 and 2, both standard and Pro versions.

The XBee's serial pins (DIN and DOUT) are connected through an SPDT switch, which allows you to select connection to either the UART pins (D0, D1) or any digital pins on the Arduino (D2 and D3 by default). Power is taken from the Arduino's 5V pin and regulated onboard to 3.3V DC before being supplied to the XBee. The shield also takes care of level shifting on the XBee's DIN and DOUT pins. In the latest revision, the diode level converter has been replaced with a more robust MOSFET level converter.

The board also includes LEDs to indicate power and activity on the XBee's DIN, DOUT, RSSI, and DIO5 pins. The Arduino reset button is onboard the shield, and it has a 9x11 hole 0.1" prototyping grid. The shield does not include headers; we recommend the Arduino Stackable Header Kit. The XBee module is also not included.
