Electrolytic Capacitors

An electric capacitor (also often referred to as a capacitor) is a passive device used in electricity and electronics. It consists of a pair of conductive surfaces, usually in the form of sheets or plates, in a state of total influence (i.e., all electric field lines originating from one end up in the other), separated by a dielectric material or a vacuum. The plates, subjected to a potential difference, acquire a specific electric charge: positive on one and negative on the other, with zero total charge change.
