Each contact is sealed at opposite ends of the glass tube. The glass tube can be about 10 mm long and 3 mm in diameter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen approaching a magnetic field, the contacts join, closing an electrical circuit. The rigidity of the contacts will cause them to separate when the magnetic field disappears.
